Call for PhD Student

Smart orchestration in the Cloud-to-Edge continuum

Goal:
The final goal of the research will be designing and implementing cognitive network orchestration mechanisms based on AI for the Cloud-to-Edge continuum. Particularly, capture and store network status data and service and applications performance indicators to be used by AI algorithms with the purpose of automating the orchestration of the network and ultimately
optimising the performance of services and applications.

Profile and skills:
The work is particularly suited (although not restrictively) for a candidate with interests in network and infrastructure management, cloud-to-edge continuum, monitoring and modelling of computer system performance, but also with a component of ML techniques to be applied to a networking context.
In addition to the technical skills, the candidate is expected to be able to work in collaboration with other researchers from our research centre and industrial partners collaborating with us in national and international projects.
English will be the primary working language (i.e., speaking Portuguese is not required).

Application:
Interested students should send an application file (PDF only, in English) with the following
information:
- An up-to-date CV;
- Link to a copy of the publication(s), if any, and to Masters’ thesis;
- If applicable, a link to a GitHub (or similar) profile with examples of personal software
contributions;
- Masters’ degree transcripts;
- Application dates: 1st to 13th September 2022
