Elaine Ramos runs a small design studio in São Paulo and is a founding partner of the Brazilian publishing house Ubu, created in 2016. From 2004 to 2015, she worked as art director at Cosac Naify, designing hundreds of books and coordinating the publishing of several titles about design. She also dedicated herself to researching Brazilian graphic design and edited, alongside Chico Homem de Melo, the book Linha do tempo do design gráfico no Brasil (Brazilian Graphic Design Timeline), a panoramic view of the Brazilian graphic design production with more than 1,600 images.

Miguel Gouveia was born in Santo Tirso in 1975. After 10 years as a teacher of Portuguese and English, he creates Bruaá Editora in 2008, together with his better half, Claúdia Lopes. In 2010, he finishes the “Books and Literature for Children and Young People” Master’s degree, by the Autonomous University of Barcelona, ​​and gives up teaching to dedicate himself full time to publishing, translation, music, storytelling and reading.
Thirteen years and almost 50 books later, many of which already translated in more than 12 countries, new and established authors coexist in the Bruaá catalog, such as Bruno Munari, André François, Wolf Erlbruch, Alastair Reid, Shel Silverstein, Walter Benjamin, Milton Glaser, Ivan Chermayeff, Ed Emberley, Violeta Lópiz, André da Loba, Marta Monteiro, João Fazenda, Catarina Sobral, JooHee Yoon, Serge Bloch, etc.
Currently he’s also an humble bookseller at your service at the Convento São Francisco’s bookshop, in Coimbra.
He lives in Figueira da Foz.


Ciclo de Conversas Design + Multimedia consists of a series of talks that take place annually during April and May, organised within the scope of the Bachelor and Master courses in Design and Multimedia at the University of Coimbra.

The event is taking place every Wednesday from 28th April to 19th May.
