Mojtaba completed his BSc and MSc studies in Electronics Engineering in 2007, and received his PhD from the Department of Informatics Engineering, University of Coimbra, in 2015. He developed his PhD thesis under supervision of Prof. António Dourado and Prof. Cesar Teixeira in the Adaptive Computation Group of the CISUC, where he investigated problems of epileptic seizure prediction and early detection using low complexity measures and machine learning approaches. He then moved to Switzerland and did two postdocs, first at the Department of Neurology of Hospital University of Bern (2015-2018), and second at the Department of Physiology of University of Lausanne (2018-2020). During his postgraduate trainings, Mojtaba developed expertise and interests in system neuroscience focusing on neural circuits and oscillations of sleep-wake cycle.
