Creative Grips and Emancipatory Movements: a Sociotechnical Conjecture about Development Approaches and Online Game Experiences



The article offers some online games development scenarios. Anchored on the notion of 'game experience� as the final object of development, the author attempts to transcend the techno-deterministic approaches that focus on technical solutions as predictable instruments for the creation of game experiences and goes into a discussion of socio technical networks governing the emergence and constitution of game experiences. He then argues the demand for a socio-technical approach to the development of multiplayer online games and outlines some of the challenges.
