An enhancement of IEEE 802.11 MAC performance by adaptive adjustment of Contention Window



In hidden and exposed wireless scenario collision
and poor fairness affect overall IEEE 802.11 MAC performance.
This problem has been overcome by binary exponential back-off
(BEB) algorithm. Binary exponential backoff algorithm
overcomes the collision of packets and achieves better
performance only in low traffic load. In this paper we have
discussed the limitation of typical backoff algorithm (EBEB [12])
and proposed an adaptive adjustment of contention window
method. We have done simulation in ns2.34 in different scenario.
Our results indicate significant improvement over EBEB
